I hate to delve in to TMZ-ish type material but some days I just get in the blogging mood and just about everything seems like a good topic for me.
Poor Lindsay Lohan must be falling on hard times. She decided that the E-Trade commercial that aired during the superbowl was an attack on her and is now demanding $100 million from them. The reasons are: a) the baby is named "Lindsay" and b) she's a milkaholic. Therefore, they must be basing the character off of Lohan.
It's so absurd it is beyond understanding.
Listen, Lindsay. I know it must be difficult leading your lifestyle of having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection while at the same time experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence-free environment on nothing but the income earned from "I Know Who Killed Me" and the occasional obscure magazine shoot with "tasteful nudity", but this is a new low.
We're talking about a ton of cash for the usage of the name "Lindsay".
This is America, people. No lawsuit is too frivilous and your dignity can easily be turned in for cash. God bless the USA.

"I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this"
That's Tool gettin it done!
A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to watch a couple movies I've been wanting to see. First off was District 9. I heard a lot of good things about it and it's symbolism and sci-fi goodness. When I finally got to see it I have to say that the reviews were dead on. The movie was bad ass. Sure, there was a bunch of plot holes, but I won't let that get in the way. Parts of it were slightly disturbing, as advertised, and taken as the metaphor that it is supposed to be I suppose it's moving on a human level. The action was the main selling point, though. I'd definitely give it a couple extra viewings.
Final verdict: 4 Lebowskis
I also got to take Transformers 2 for a ride. The reviews weren't nearly as kind to this one and more than one fancy pants movie critic went out of his or her way to shit directly on the fine work of Bay. As I said in a previous post, people who even consider seeing this movie know what they have coming. They're not looking for something deep and thoughtful. They want robot battles. You think it's easy delivering a robot battle? Eh, the movie was entertaining for the most part. Waaaay too long though. If I recall correctly this thing clocked in at over 2 hours. Totally unnecessary. If I had to pick the thing that bothered me the most it would have to be that way too many generic Transformers were inserted in to this thing for the simple purpose of providing a death count. Kind of lame. But, Optimus and Bumblebee tore some shit up, Turturro is good, Sam's parents are funny, Megan did her thing, and it appears that they have this thing set up for an infinite number of sequels.
Final Verdict: 3 Lebowskis.

Who the F are The Fray???
Every once in a while I have one of those "Jesus I'm getting old" moments and I think I had one yesterday. While enjoying my evening commute home listening to some talk radio where they were talking about an upcoming concert by The Fray. I was just tuning that crap out and I was too lazy to change the channel when I catch them throw in how Our Lady Peace was opening up for them.
What!
Has it really been so long that a somewhat relevant band like OLP is opening up for some band I've never heard of? They had some pretty decent songs like this,
this,
and this
during the last 15 years or so. So when the hell did this happen? I couldn't name a single song by The Fray if my life depended on it. After listening to what radio-guy was saying they've had a song or two on teevee shows, including my personal favorite, Scrubs. So with a little searching I found this clip...
... and I've seen that episode a million times. The song ain't too bad, although I don't know if it's any better than Coldplay. I have a short history of digging songs associated with shows I dig. There was a brief period where I would arrange my schedule around Smallville (hello miss kreuk!) and the opening ...
Smallville Intro - Click here for more amazing videos
... caused me to fall in love with the whole song by the little-known Remy Zero and their one (semi)hit "Save Me".
Yeah!
So maybe I'll try giving The Fray a chance. But Our Lady Peace was pretty good at rockin' out at one point. Let's hope all these kids don't forget that.

Killer robots from outer space and Megan Fox in little outfits
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes out this weekend and I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty stoked about it. It's getting bad reviews left and right by the critics but they're all idiots anyways. They say, "two and a half hours of special effects, explosions, and bad acting", and I say dy-no-mite! These aren't art films, alright people? We're not looking for Pan's Labyrinth style imagery or award-winning acting. We want fucking big ass robot battles. The first one certainly delivered. The word on the movie is that Michael Bay enjoyed all the effects so much in the first movie that he decided to do nothing but effects in this one. More power to him!
I have to feel kind of bad for Shia LeBeouf, though. I don't really like the guy too much, but he is supposed to be the star of the film. Yet everywhere you look the marketing for this movie tends to be riding this...

and this...

and this...
... noticing a theme?
Yes, Megan Fox, is a nice looking gal, but I think she is getting a bit bigger than the movie. Last night she was on Letterman and she was kind of a d-bag. I have my theories as to why, but #1 on the list is that she has been with this guy.
So, I can't wait for the movie. Once GJ Joe comes out I will only need someone to turn Voltron in to a motion picture in order to die happy.
